*Student/Parent Handbook Updates

The tardy pdf policy needs to be updated. Last sentence of the first paragraph should read "If a student accumulates three excused or unexcused tardies in a semester, she will be required to serve a detention."

Headphone and earbud use:  In an effort to create community, Mercy has updated the headphone and earbud policy. Moving forward, headphones and earbuds are not permitted outside the discretion of a teacher. This includes use in the Cafeteria, halls, Grassilli, and The Green during the hours of 7:55 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.  A student who does not adhere to the policy will receive a detention and have her headphones or earbuds confiscated. She will be able to pick them up at the end of the school day in the Main Office or Mrs. Morello's office in Russell.

Excused absence:

Please read below for clarifications regarding an excused absence.

    Absences are excused for:

  • Personal illness- After three or more consecutive days of absence, a student should produce a note from a medical professional stating the reason for the student's absence; this policy includes leaving school early.
  • Medical Appointments*
  • Death in the family (relative or close family friend)**
  • Court appearances**
  • Limited number of college visits- See policy below
  • Religious holidays- Submit note to the Dean of Students two weeks prior.

          * Requires a note from a parent/legal guardian and medical professional.

           ** Requires a note from a parent/legal guardian

Other rare exceptions (ie. competitions, academic experiences) must be approved no less       than two weeks in advance by the Dean of Students and the Assistant Head of School for       Academics.

If a student arrives late to class due to one of the situations listed above, it will be         marked as an excused absence, not a tardy.

For additional information, please refer to the Student Parent Handbook.

*Dining/Cashless Campus Mercy sponsors a cashless card program through Myschoolaccount.com which allows students to make purchases on campus quickly, easily, efficiently, and helps our families reduce the need for checks and cash. The program provides a convenient alternative method of payment with just a scan of a student's ID card.
For more information click HERE.

*Uniform Reminder: All sweaters, sweatshirts, and jackets must have a Mercy logo or say Mercy to be worn with the uniform Monday-Thursday. Non-Mercy jackets with hoods may be worn on rainy days. Click HERE Uniform Policy.

*Student Drop Off and Pick Up:

Below are some reminders to ensure smooth and safe traffic flow:

  • Students can be dropped off and picked up only at the main entrance of Kohl Mansion; neighboring streets and the Mercy Center are off limits
  • Follow Ms. Kolski's instructions entering and exiting the Main Gate
  • Use your traffic signals when entering and exiting the Main Gate
  • No speeding on school property
  • Have students exit on the righthand/passenger side of vehicles
  • Do not go around other vehicles in the drop off circle. Some students exit their cars on the driver's side, and we don't want anyone getting hit.

*Help Needed for Alumnae Homecoming

On Sunday, September 17th, Mercy alumnae from around the country will gather and celebrate Homecoming.  We will need some students and parents (are of course welcome to help) to help us out that morning!  We will be putting note cards on the tables, arranging name tags and directing alumnae to the Coffee/Mass with the Sisters.

We will need help from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.  You will need to come in full Mercy dress uniform.  You will of course be given basic service hours for this help. Ask a friend to come with you – this is a very fun morning and we could really use your help!  Please let Mrs. Fraher if you would be interested in helping that day! You can contact her at:  cfraher@castaneda-reiman.com or call 6650.762.1192
